Tier 1 Visa

There are four different types of category that fall within the Tier 1 visa arrangements:

• Tier 1 General
• Tier 1 Post Study Work
• Tier 1 Entrepreneur
• Tier 1 Investor

This type of application does not require evidence of a formal job offer. However, you will still be required to show that you meet the full points requirements with original evidence where appropriate. The specific type of evidence you require will depend on which category you are applying for.

All applications made under Tier 1 will also require you to show that you have a good knowledge of English and have sufficient funds to support yourself and any dependants. These are known as the English Language and Maintenance requirements.

It is important to allow enough time to prepare for this application and collect all the necessary evidence to show how you meet the criteria. We can represent you on this application and make sure that the paperwork is fully prepared with all the correct supporting evidence.

The following schemes have been replaced with the Tier 1 visa:

• The Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP)
• Investors
• Self employed lawyers
• Business persons
• Writers, Composers and Artists
• The International Graduate Scheme (IGS)
• Science and Engineering Graduate Scheme (SEGS)
• Innovators
• Fresh Talent; Working in Scotland Scheme (FTWISS)

If you are in any of the above categories it may still be possible to switch into Tier 1. We will look at your personal circumstances and advise you accordingly.
